The heart’s normal rate ranges from 60 to 100 beats every minute. However, if your heart beats lower than the normal rate, you may be experiencing a condition called bradycardia. Although there are times that this is not really as complicated as heart attack or other heart diseases, this condition can still be fatal especially if you do not take proper care of your health. It may result to death if the body does not get sufficient blood that is enriched with oxygen.
But what are the common bradycardia causes?
There are so many factors affecting the slow heart rate. Some of the reasons why a person experiences bradycardia include the following:
- Congenital heart disease
- Having hard time breathing during sleep which results to apnea.
- Rheumatic fever
- Various medications for your other heart-related ailments
- Heart tissue degeneration as a result of aging.
But even if you are physically fit or do not any kind of heart disease, it is still possible that you can have bradycardia. As a matter of fact, there are so many athletes who have this condition. This is so common among them that this has been called as the Athlete’s Heart.
If there is also a sudden loss of weight, it is also likely that you would experience this heart condition as well. Therefore, if you are suffering from anorexia nervosa, your heart would not function properly, thus resulting to a slower heart rate.
It is very essential that you have your trusted health care provider to check you if you think that you have this heart condition. You may face complications eventually such as frequent fainting, heart failure, or even sudden death. Treatments and other medications are now available to improve your heart rate condition.
